The New House

We have moved from an 850 sq. ft, 110 year-old house that was on the Historic Registry to a brand new 1440 sq. ft house in a new sub-division. We are adjusting to the many differences. Some are easier than others, but it all seems to be going very smoothly.

The old house had 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, 2 very small closets and a huge yard.

The new house has 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms (did you hear that? 3!) and big closets in each bedroom and a postage stamp of a yard…We gave my dad back his John Deere mower and got a push mower and a weed whacker…

Here are some pictures of our new little world…

The kitchen

The dining room (with our massive hutch that we I was afraid to move. It doesn’t come apart…)

The living room

Another pretty hutch…(on the very far right there is a hallway, that heads upstairs and also to the laundry closet…)

Master bedroom (we finally have our bed frame up, it was too big at the “old”

Kiddo room (Owen’s side)

Kiddo room (Grace’s side) It looks huge since they are still using toddler beds.

Play room (this is the 4th bedroom that is downstairs)

The blank slate- our un-landscaped backyard…the building to the right is our garage, it is detached from the house…

We still have the kids sharing a room in this house. We thought it would make the transition easier for them since they have always shared and seem to get lonely for each other at night. So far it is working well.

There is a 3rd bedroom upstairs that we are using as the office/craft room but we haven’t unpacked it yet.

We have our TV in the play room which has drastically cut down our TV watching, especially since there are only kid-sized chairs in that room. It has actually been refreshing to not have it in the main living area.

The only drawback to the move is that this guy still comes in on our radio:)

It looks great! Thanks for sharing the pictures! It is amazing that the ugly thing actually looks appropriately sized for the space, if not small! Can’t wait to see it in person!
