Progress and Perspective
Danny and I spent Sunday afternoon cleaning out our shed in our backyard. We called Grandma and Grandpa Annie and they came and took the kiddos and we had uninterrupted cleaning time for several hours and got sooo much done. We also had some uninterrupted conversation which can be quite rare at our house.
We do this project about once, maybe twice a year, pull out as much as we can, go through it, get rid of stuff or rearrange it and put it away.
There were boxes of things that we hadn’t opened since we moved here 3 1/2 years ago. We made a Goodwill run and now the shed is so manageable again.
At one point I looked in a box and found a wedding present that has still not been taken out of the box. It is a set of four ice cream sundae glasses.
This was the conversation that followed:
Danny: “Sweet Girl, that was sure a big smile on your face.”
Me: “I was just remembering when we registered for these and we got four with the thought that we would have two itty-bittys to eat ice cream sundaes with us and now we do and that makes me happy.”
Danny: “Yeah, and we can’t wait to ship them off to Grandma and Grandpas so we can get something done and not go insane and we are both trying not to eat ice cream! Is that what we expected?
Much laughter, so true, I guess it’s a matter of perspective…
