She just never stops…
Well, as usual Grace has been full of it.
About a month ago I was trying to tell her what “the pokey” is, not that she really even knows about jail either so it wasn’t an easy thing to explain.
Yesterday, I was getting ready in the bathroom (insert meaning: no clothing) and Grace came in wanting to know if I was ready. I said “lets go, I’ll just not wear clothes today.”
Grace: “No Momma, if you do that someone will call the police and then you’ll be in the bushes!
Me: laughing “In the bushes?”
Grace: “Yes, the pokey bushes!”
Grace also gets very frustrated when Owen hollers so she has a variety of things that she yells at him whenever he starts yelling…Imagine all of these things yelled by a very mad munchkin from the Wizard of Oz and you’ll have a pretty accurate picture of what Grace sounds like.
“Speed it baby!” – I am assuming this is her safe alternative to shut up…Mostly hollered in the van while we are driving.
“Stop yelling or you’ll be in the pantry!” – This one is strange, I think she is trying to impose time outs because it is usually when I am not in the room, I just “overhear” it…(no, we don’t put them in the pantry for time outs, we don’t even have a pantry).
“Go to sleep, baby!” – This is yelled at Owen anytime really, he could be mid-bite and if he hollers she’ll yell back for him to go to sleep. Maybe it’s my equivalent of “Calgon take me away…” or “please, Lord help me!”
Grace: “Owen do you want this ribbon on?”
Me: “No Sweetie, we don’t tie things around brother’s throat, it could strangle him.”
Grace: “What’s strangling?”
Me: “When something goes tight around someone’s neck and they can’t breathe.”
Grace: “Why don’t we want to do that?”
Me: “Because it would hurt brother and we don’t want to do that.”
Grace: “Yes, I do. I want to hurt him.”
Me: “Grace, we don’t want to hurt Owen.”
Grace: “I was just teasing.”
Me: “Were you not teasing and you were waiting to see if I would let you hurt your brother?”
Grace: “Yeah, I was.”
