Consequences

as I am checking Grace’s lunch bag after school

Me: “Ooh, you ate all of your lunch!”
Grace: “Yes, and you made my belly hurt and I didn’t like that!”
Me: “How did I do that?”
Grace: “Well, you said I had to eat it all if I wanted to eat the jelly beans. I ate the jelly beans first so then I had to eat everything else so I wouldn’t get in trouble and it made my tummy hurt.”
Me: “Well maybe next time you should eat your lunch first and if you get full, stop eating and save your jelly beans for later.”
Grace: “Oh, that’s a good idea. I’ll try that tomorrow.”
